Last Thursday (the 29th), I was honored that a couple of students wanted me to tag along with them to a local restaurant for wing night. I was delighted that a couple of seniors in high school wanted to have a meal with a computer nerd, so I was strongly inclined to go, as long as it was okay with Meredith. She was fine with it, so I went.
The restaurant is a mom-and-pop place called Eddy’s. I got there first, and they were fine with seating me at a table for eight, even though I was alone at the time. The guys trickled in, and in the end, it was three seniors (two of whom are in my Connections group) and one other faculty member, also called Matt. We all ordered wings (I felt the peer pressure, even though I thought the burgers looked good), and we all started eating and talking.
I have to admit, the wings deal is a good one – we got a roll, soup (really good!) or salad, fries, unlimited wings, and a dessert for $8.00. It was fun hanging out with guys – we talked food, music, food, a little sports, and food. We were at Eddy’s for about two hours, and I had a really great time. I was even invited back for next wing night.
