In honor of Caribbeaner’s
recent postings about Harry Potter, I thought I would post this German cover that my brother and I saw in a foreign language book store in Chicago. I thought is was “Sprockets” meets Harry Potter…
“Ya, vit Harry we dance for you!”
Here is the picture Sonotmu talked about (and I have to admit it is rather German):
It IS funny how Harry’s (Heinrich’s?) picture is so culturally based. I just got done reading Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz (c’mon Mu…Halb…Blut….Prinz….think about it…think…) which was a vastly more fun read in German than, say, Kant. Anyway, the picture of Harry is, if anything, even more weirdly German. http://www.amazon.de/gp/product/images/3551566666/ref=dp_image_text_0/302-4227212-7544058?ie=UTF8
What? Harry Potter and the Fish Prince? Those Germans have a weird way of translating…
bad, bad people.
Hmmmm. “Der Stein der Weisen”??? Could that be the vessel that Friar Sarcasmos speaks of?
Staring at the cover of the Halbblutprinzen, I can almost hear Harry saying, “Look Herr Doktor Professor Dumbledore! Ahead glows with an evil, unearthly light! Perhaps it has a power source we can bend to our wills! And if you do not give me more Lebensraum, I will push you out of das Boot!”
